Species
datastore ActiveURL: https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/data-sets/wildlife/wildnet/species.csv
Lists the nomenclature, statuses and endemicity of current taxa within the WildNet database including flora, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and selected fish and invertebrate groups. The names of the flora (e.g. plants, fungi, chromists etc.) are automatically updated from the Queensland Herbarium's specimen database (Herbrecs) weekly (native and naturalised Queensland species only).
This dataset is updated weekly from the WildNet database (Saturdays) and the associated report (link below) is scheduled to update twice daily.
Below is a listing of the field definitions.
The Conservation status of Queensland wildlife report can be accessed to visualise the data.
Taxon_Id: The unique identification number of the taxon within the WildNet database.
Kingdom: The common name for the kingdom of the taxon.
Class: The common name for the class of the taxon.
Family: The family name of the taxon.
Scientific_name: The scientific name of the taxon.
Common_name: The preferred common name for the taxon.
Taxon_author: Author abbreviations or citations for the publication naming the taxon. Author abbreviations for plants, fungi and protists are derived from the Queensland Herbarium database ‘Herbrecs’.
NCA_status: Status under Queensland -Nature Conservation Act 1992- (NCA) and its Nature Conservation (Wildlife) Regulation 2006. Available codes are: EX - extinct, PE – extinct in the wild, CR – critically endangered, E – endangered wildlife, V – vulnerable wildlife, NT – near threatened wildlife, SL – special least concern, C – least concern wildlife and I – international wildlife.
EPBC_status: Status under the Commonwealth -Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999- (EPBC Act). Available codes are: EX – extinct, WX - extinct in the wild, CE – critically endangered, E – endangered, V – vulnerable and CD – conservation dependent.
Significant: Flag to denote a taxon is conservation significant (Y=Yes and N=No). In the WildNet database a conservation significant species is listed s threatened or near threatened under the -Nature Conservation Act 1992- or listed under the -Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999- or it is listed under one of the following international treaties: China-Australia Migratory Bird Agreement (CAMBA), Japan-Australia Migratory Bird Agreement (JAMBA), Republic of Korea-Australia Migratory Bird Agreement (ROKAMBA) or the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals or Bonn Convention (appendices 1 and 2).
Confidential: Flag to denote a taxon is confidential (Y=Yes and N=No). Refer to the Queensland Confidential Species dataset for a complete list of confidential species (including current and superseded species).
Endemicity: The endemicity of the taxon. Available codes are: Q – Queensland endemic; QA – Australian endemic; QI – naturally occurs in Queensland and overseas; QAI – naturally occurs in Australia and overseas; U – native to Queensland - endemicity not defined; II – Naturalised from overseas, IA – Naturalised from elsewhere in Australia, IU – naturalised species - origin not defined; VA – Australian vagrant, VI – international vagrant and VU – vagrant - origin not defined.
