Records on Frontier Wars and violence in Queensland

Data usability rating :
Contains open format machine-readable open data.

This list of records was identified as part of a research project on frontier wars and violence in Queensland from 1849 till 1920. Most of the records are connected to the Native Police and state-sanctioned violence. This list is not representative of everything that occurred. Rather it is reflective of what has been uncovered within the scope of this project, and what records have survived.

The list includes essential information from each record, such as the names of people and places mentioned within the record. In some instances, a link to a digital scan in the catalogue is included. However, if a record you are interested in does not include a link to a digital scan, please get in contact by emailing firstnations@archives.qld.gov.au.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are warned that the list includes language and attitudes that are not considered appropriate today and have the potential to cause distress and offence. Readers are advised that the list contains themes of murder and violence, and the names of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples who have passed away. Care and discretion should be used when accessing this list.
